Would you eat ugly food?

Fighting against food waste

Nicolas Chabanne is a fruit producer. In 2014, he's tired of having to throw away 30% of his production because it doesn't fit the norms.

So don't worry, whoever you are, an original fruit, vegetable or even cheese, you'll be eaten! In fact, with a group of other producers, he decided to create a label to identify the products (fruits, vegetables, cheese,...) with minor aestethic flaws and be able to sell them, 30% cheaper.

Today, his aim is clearly to reduce food waste in a broader sense. For that, he developed two other actions.

In the one hand, and also thanks to consumers, he was able to widen the types of commodities he could sell with this label (cheese, chocolate...). Since then, all the products that didn't meet manufacturer's expectation on a physical aspect (size, shape,...) can be sold and consumed by people 30% cheaper.

In the other hand, he created another label for products who will expire soon. Retailers can choose to apply one with a 30% discount or with a 50% discount, to encourage buyers to save these products from the bin whereas they are still eatable.

So either you're a producer, a retailer or even just a consumer, you can be part of the project in your country !
